Start your bookbinding journey in the comfort of your own home at completely your own pace. Detailed clear demo videos show you the processes step by step so you can pause, skip or re-watch to your hearts content. The kit provided ensures that you'll not only have everything you need for the course but to be able to carry on afterwards too. I can be available via email and WhatsApp to answer questions if needed (by arrangement). This series of exercises is the equivalent of a full day course including making time and will enable you to feel confident enough in the process to keep making afterwards. All your materials and tools are included as well as all the video tutorials that you will need. Help is also available via WhatsApp and email. Please allow 7 days for delivery of your kit.
Silver Clay Jewellery: Explore different techniques including rolling and cutting the clay, as well as making and using moulds. You will learn how to prepare the clay, fire and polish. With a wide range of jewellery options there's something for everyone. This lovely process allows you to be creative in an accessible way, so anyone can do it! Use treasures from your life as inspiration (or even to make your moulds) or just allow the process to guide you. Depending on your designs and your choice of size you will make 4-6 pieces of silver. What you will need: A clean, safe place to work when using the provided blow torch on the provided heat mat. A small quantity of olive oil in a pot, pliers if you have them (but don't worry if not). Somewhere to dry the clay pieces before firing: a hot radiator, a hot plate, a dehumidifier or a dehydrator. A device with a large enough screen to view the tutorials and the ability to play sound.
Bookbinding: Work with traditional book binding materials and techniques and get creative with alternative structures and styles. You will begin by learning to cut and stitch the pages and use canvas to create a hardback cover, resulting in a gorgeous hard back book. You will then be able to go onto exploring larger, designs with a variety of techniques, covers and materials. You will finish the workshop with at least 2 gorgeous books and the skills to continue creating afterwards. Please choose from the following colour themes: Autumn, Summer or Aqua. And the name / message you would like engraved onto the top of your book press (that's included in the kit). Please message me with your choices. What you will need: A clean and clear work area big enough to spread out a number of materials, books and tools. Scrap white paper (unused print outs or photocopies are ideal or cheap white paper) for gluing and protecting your book. Paper scissors and a pencil. A device with a large enough screen to view the tutorials and the ability to play sound.
Pewter Casting: This exciting process involves making and using moulds, melting and pouring the pewter, finishing and polishing your design, and turning it into jewellery. By the end of the workshop you will have completed 4-6 pieces in a variety of techniques, finishes and styles. What you will need: A clean, safe place to work when using the provided blow torch on a heat mat. A drill (a hand drill is fine if you do not have a power tool), a scrap piece of wood to drill onto a pair of pliers if you have them (don't worry if not). A WiFi connection and access to a computer large enough to view the tutorials clearly and with the ability to play sound.
