Discover the fascinating art of batik in this creative, hands-on workshop. Batik is a traditional textile technique that uses melted wax and dye to create beautiful patterns and layered designs on fabric.
During the workshop you will learn how to apply wax to cloth using simple tools, creating areas that resist the dye and form intricate patterns. You’ll then explore adding colour in layers to build depth and character in your designs.
This workshop offers plenty of opportunity to experiment with pattern, colour, and texture, allowing you to develop your own unique piece. You may choose to create decorative fabric panels, small textile artworks, or fabric pieces that can later be incorporated into other projects.
Working with wax and dye is a wonderfully absorbing process, and the workshop is designed to be relaxed and supportive, with guidance throughout as you explore the technique.
All materials and tools are provided, and by the end of the session you will have created your own handmade batik fabric to take home.
Suitable for beginners and those with some creative experience who would like to explore this traditional technique.
All your materials and tools are included as well as endless tea and coffee for in person courses!
